Position Summary

The Sheet Metal Shop lnputter is responsible for converting fabrication information into accurate, shop-ready releases that support efficient fabrication and installation. This position serves as a link between BIM, project management, the field, and the fabrication shop. The lnputter processes drawings and cut ticket information through CAMduct, applies system standards, performs quality checks, and assembles complete release packages for fabrication. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical understanding of sheet metal systems, and the ability to work within structured processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive fabrication information from BIM, Project Management, or Field (models, drawings, cut tickets).

• Review incoming information for completeness and alignment with project requirements and issued System Charts.

• Process and convert fabrication data into CAMduct, applying correct gauges, pressure classes, connectors, and shop standards.

• Perform quality control checks for constructability, dimensional accuracy, and System Chart compliance.

• Assemble complete release packages including drawings, CAMduct files, notes, travelers, and supporting documentation.

• Submit release packages to the Fabrication Manager for review and authorization prior to fabrication.

• Communicate clearly with BIM, Fabrication, and Project Management, to resolve questions or discrepancies.


Qualifications

• 3-7 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, BIM support, detailing, or shop inputting.

• Strong understanding of sheet metal systems, fabrication methods, and shop workflow.

• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and system documentation.

• Familiarity with SMACNA standards and basic sheet metal construction principles.

• Experience working with CAMduct or similar fabrication software.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes.

• Clear communication skills and willingness to ask questions when clarification is needed.


Preferred Skills

• Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.

• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or SIM-based fabrication workflows.

• Understanding of pressure classes, gauges, connectors, and reinforcement logic.

• Experience supporting fabrication shops or working directly with shop personnel.

• Basic computer skills (Excel, Bluebeam, Outlook).

• Ability to work collaboratively across departments (BIM, Fabrication, PM, Field).
