Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer with a strong background in reciprocating gas compression and fabrication/packaging environments. This individual will be responsible for supporting the technical sales process, developing engineered solutions, and ensuring accurate system design and costing for complex compression packages.
The ideal candidate understands the full lifecycle of compression systems — from concept and sizing through fabrication and delivery — and is comfortable working closely with sales, engineering, and fabrication teams to deliver customized solutions for customers.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and support technical proposals for reciprocating gas compression packages
Perform compressor sizing and selection (Ariel or similar platforms preferred)
Interpret customer specifications, process data, and operating conditions to design appropriate systems
Generate cost estimates and pricing based on fabrication scope, materials, and labor
Collaborate with internal engineering and fabrication teams to ensure designs are buildable and cost-effective
Review and define scope for skids, piping, vessels, and auxiliary systems
Interface with customers to clarify requirements and provide technical guidance
Support project handoff to engineering and production teams
Assist in reviewing drawings, layouts, and system configurations as needed
Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools, templates, and processes
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in reciprocating gas compression, compression packaging, or related equipment
Strong background in manufacturing, fabrication, or shop-based environments
Experience with compressor sizing (Ariel preferred) and system configuration
Understanding of pressure vessels, piping systems, and skid-mounted equipment
Ability to interpret P&IDs, GA drawings, and customer specifications
Strong commercial awareness — ability to balance technical accuracy with cost considerations
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred (or equivalent hands-on experience)
Preferred Experience
Experience working with compression packaging companies or OEMs
Familiarity with ASME codes, fabrication standards, and shop workflows
Exposure to upstream, midstream, or gas processing applications
Experience working directly with sales teams and customers in a technical capacity
